Guide
All the essential information you require before leaving your children in our care!
Life-threatening Allergies
There will always be a staff member with First Aid and CPR training on hand. If your child has a life-threatening allergy, the camp Director will reach out to you before camp begins to go over the allergy details and gather any additional information, despite the information already provided on the registration form. If your child carries an Epipen, please ensure they have it in a fanny pack, which they should wear at all times.
Sunscreen Protection
We kindly request that you apply sunscreen to your child each morning before they arrive at camp, regardless of the weather conditions. On the first day of camp, please supply labeled sunscreen that can be stored in their backpack and reapplied at specified intervals throughout the day.
What to pack!
All items should be labelled in case your little camper was to lose an item.
Campers are not required to bring specific sports equipment to camp.
Lunchbox
Please send your child to camp with a reusable water bottle and nut-free snacks. Lunch will be provided.
Washable, inexpensive clothing
We will be playing outdoors all day, we recommend that you NOT send clothing that may upset you and/or your child if for some reason it got dirty, accidentally damaged or went missing.
Hat
All campers should arrive at camp wearing a hat to prevent overexposure to the sun
Shoes
Campers must wear athletic shoes (not sandals) so that they can safely play safely in the fields. Please keep in mind that Hammond Hill is mostly sand and the trails are dirt. A Crocs style shoe in sport mode is probably a good idea.
Dress for weather
Since we will be outdoors at all times except for extreme weather conditions, we do recommend you pack a few items that will allow your child to be comfortable regardless of what Mother Nature sends our way. Please check the weather daily but don’t assume that the conditions your child left home in will be the same throughout the day (or even the same as you may encounter wherever you are during the day). We recommend packing light items like a windbreaker, long-sleeve shirt, or a sweatshirt for cold windy days and boots and a raincoat for rainy days.
Extra clothes
Some of our younger campers may benefit from having some extra clothes labelled and stored in their backpack just in case these items are needed.
Sunscreen to be left in backpack
We ask that you apply sunscreen (rain or shine) on your child before they arrive at camp. Please provide sunscreen (LABELLED!) that can be kept in their backpack and reapplied at designated times during the day.
Pick up and Drop off
For drop off at Hammond Hill, please find us to the left of the park entrance, in the big white and orange tent.
YOU MUST PRESENT PHOTO IDENTIFICATION EVERY DAY when picking up your child. If another individual (other than the child’s parent or guardian) is picking them up, please send an email to hammondhillcamp@rethinkexperience.ca ahead of time to let us know.
